Online Support - Set up New Internet Connection

To set up a dial-up connection for LD Internet, follow the instructions below. There are instructions for the following operating systems:

Windows 95/98/ME

Double click the My Computer icon.
Double click Dial-Up Networking icon. If there is no Dial-Up Networking icon, see How to Install Dial-Up Networking.
Double click on Make New Connection icon.
In the first field that appears type "LD Internet", click the Next button (at the bottom of the screen).
Next field says: "Type the phone number for the computer you want to call". Type LD Internet's Dial-Up number, 250-277-1011, in the field labeled"Telephone Number". Click the Next button.
Click the Finish button. There will now be an icon Labeled"LD Internet" in your Dial-Up Networking folder.
Put your cursor on the "LD Internet" icon, click the right-mouse button and choose Properties from the menu that appears.
The screen that will appear next is labeled LD Internet and contains 4 tabs across the top (General, Server Types, Scripting and Multilink).
Click on Server Types and ensure that "Type of Dial-up Server" is set to "PPP". In the Advanced options section make sure that NONE of the boxes are selected. Further below the advanced options make sure that only "TCP/IP" is checked.
Click on the button to the right labeled TCP/IP Settings.
Ensure that the first choice selected is "Server Assigned IP Address". halfway down, ensure that "Server Assigned Name Server" is selected.
Click Ok. This will take you back to the Server Types screen. Click OK to save your settings.
You are now able to connect to LD Internet.

Windows XP

Click Start then Control Panel.
Click on the Network and Internet Connections icon.
Click on Setup or Change Your Internet Connection. A window that is labeled"Internet Proprieties" will appear.
Click on the Setup button. Enter your area code and country code the click Ok. This will open the New Connection Wizard.
On the first screen that appears click Next.
On the next screen choose "Connect to the Internet" and click Next.
Choose "Setup my Connection Manually" then click Next.
Choose "Connect Using a Dial-Up Modem" and click Next.
On the next screen enter "LD Internet" in the Connection Name area and click Next.
Enter the phone number "250-277-1011" then click Next.
On the screen that appears enter your username and password exactly as provided to you at signup. Click on Next.
Click Finish. You are now able to connect to LD Internet.

Windows Vista

Click the Start button, then click on Connect To.
A window that is labeled Connect to a Network will appear. Click on the Set up a connection or network link near the bottom left corner of the window.
Click on Set up a dial-up connection. Click the Next button.
On the next screen entitled Type the information from your Internet service provider (ISP), enter the following information:
1. For the Dial-up phone number field, enter the phone number 250-277-1011.
2. For the User name and password fields, enter them exactly as provided to you at signup. Please note, your password is case sensitive. Check the option Remember this password if you would like your password saved.
3. For the Connection name, enter "Mag-Net Dial-up" or something similar.
4. Check the option Allow other people to use this connection if desired.
Click the Create button.
After the message The connection to the Internet is ready to use appears, click Close.
You have now completed the Mag-Net dialup set up. To connect to the Internet, click the Start button, then click on Connect To. In the window that appears, click on the Mag-Net Dial-up connection, then click the Connect button.
