Uninstalling and Reinstalling Dial-Up Networking

Please note: This solution is for Windows 95/98 and ME users. You must have your Windows CD-ROM to complete this procedure.

1. Click Start

2. Click Settings and then Control Panels

3. Open Add/Remove Programs

4. Click on the Windows Setup tab.

6. Wait for the search to finish, then double-click on Communications.

7. Find Dial-up Networking, and click to remove the checkmark beside it (if there is no checkmark, skip to step 14).

8. If a message box informs you that other components rely on Dial-Up Networking to be removed, allow them to be removed by clicking Yes.

9. Click OK, and then click Apply.

10. The prompt will ask you to restart. Click Yes. When you have rebooted, Control Panel will already be open.

11. Open Add/Remove Programs.

12. Click on the Windows Setup tab.

13. Wait for the search to finish, then double-click on Communications.

14. Put a Checkmark in beside Dial-Up Networking.

15. If a message box informs you that other components rely on Dial-Up Networking to be installed, allow them to be installed by clicking Yes.

16. Click OK, and then click Apply.

17. You will now be prompted to insert your Windows CDROM. Wait for the installation to complete. Once complete you will be asked to Restart your computer to finish installation. Do so now.
