how to configure Internet Explorer and how to solve certain Internet
Explorer technical issues:
Basic Configuration
Technical Issues

Check your version of Internet Explorer:
- Click Start
- Click Programs
- Click Internet Explorer. Internet
Explorer will open.
- Click Help on the main menu
- Click About Internet Explorer
- The first line of this screen will tell you what version you are
currently using. The second line will tell you the encryption type.


Clear your temporary Internet files. This
will temporarily free up disk space on your computer.
- Click Start
- Click Programs
- Click Internet Explorer. Internet
Explorer will open.
- Click Tools on the main menu
- Click Internet Options
- Click the General tab.
- In the Temporary Internet Files section (pictured above), click
the Delete Files button. Click OK,
and then OK again.
You have now successfully deleted your temporary internet files.
Clear your Internet history. This will temporarily
free up disk space on your computer.
- Click Start
- Click Programs
- Click Internet Explorer. Internet
Explorer will open.
- Click Tools on the main menu
- Click Internet Options
- Click the General tab.
- In the History section (pictured above), click the Clear
History button.

Internet Explorer is provided by another
ISP.
Even if your browser displays the name of another Internet Service
Provider in the blue title bar at the top, it should still work with
LD Internet if configured properly.

Internet Explorer will not open, is constantly
producing errors, or you do not have a browser installed.
You may need to install or reinstall Internet Explorer.
Click here
to download the newest version of Internet Explorer, which also installs
Outlook Express.
Before you install Internet Explorer, close all programs. Then, simply
follow the installation instructions.

Internet Explorer toolbar is missing items.
- Click Start
- Click Programs
- Click Internet Explorer. Internet
Explorer will open.
- Click View on the main menu, then
Toolbars
- Click Standard Buttons to place
a checkmark next to it.
- Click View, Toolbars,
and then Address Bar to place a checkmark
next to it.
- Click View, Toolbars
and then Links to place a checkmark
next to it.

Content Advisor is blocking certain web
sites.
Content Advisor is an Internet Explorer function that allows you
to control the content that your computer can gain access to on the
Internet. Content Advisor settings may be preventing you from viewing
certain web pages on the Internet. If you have forgotten your Internet
Explorer Content Advisor password, you will need to contact Microsoft
support to change or remove the Content Advisor settings.

You can connect to LD Internet, but cannot
surf the Internet, or you receive one of the following errors:
- The Page Cannot Be Displayed. Internet Explorer cannot open the
Internet site Web address. A connection with the server could not
be established.
- The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
- The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or
you may need to adjust your browser settings.
To resolve these errors, check the web site address (URL) syntax
to make sure it is spelled correctly and contains all the characters
in the correct case. In addition, the specific page you are attempting
to access may have been removed, had its name changed, been down temporarily
or been moved to a new location.
Solution One: If you cannot access any web sites while connected,
please verify the following settings:
- Click Start
- Click Programs
- Click Internet Explorer
- Click Tools on the main menu
- Click Internet Options
- Click the Connections tab.
- Select Always dial my default connection
if it is not already selected.
- Click the Settings... button
- Ensure Automatically Detect Settings
is selected. If not, click to add a check mark. (see picture below)
- Ensure Automatic configuration script
is not selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
- Ensure Use a proxy server is not
selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
- Click Ok.
- Click the LAN settings button on
the Internet Properties box.
- Ensure Automatic configuration script
is not selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark. (see
picture below).
- Ensure Use a proxy server is not
selected. If it is, click to remove the check mark.
- Click Apply and then Ok
- Attempt to access the web pages that you could not previously
access.


If this does not resolve the error, attempt Solution Two.
